If you live in or anywhere near San Francisco, you must attend the August 9 screening of Miracle Mile (1988) at 7pm at the Castro Theatre. Eddie Muller will be on hand for a Q & A with the film's director Steve De Jarnatt, but that's not all....
You'll also be treated to a showing of Tarzana (1972), a noir short directed by De Jarnatt, produced by Wendy and Harold Cozen, starring Michael C. Gwynne, Eddie Constantine, Tim Carey, Edie Adams, Carel Struycken, Ann Dusenberry, Kate Murtaugh (the Madam from Farewell My Lovely), and Charles Knapp (the coroner from Chinatown). The event will also feature artwork (including the above poster) by the amazing Bill Selby as well as other artwork by Bill Selby and Paul Chadwick to be signed. (And there's the possibility of another big surprise!)
I wasn't even aware of this movie until last year when I saw it and was blown away. I reviewed the film (with spoiler warnings) and it has immediately become one of my favorite 80s movies of all time. It might just become one of yours as well. I wish I could attend this event, but if any of you are able to go, I hope you'll tell us all about it. Even if you can't, you should pick up Miracle Mile on Blu-ray in the U.S. or in the UK. Enjoy!
