About Me

Journeys in Darkness and Light explores my longest-running passion: movies. Although most of the movies I watch were made over 40 years ago, I also frequently see current films.
Film noir is often my focus, but I love all films: drama, romance, science fiction, fantasy, westerns, international films, and lately (much to my surprise) even musicals.
In many of these discussions, I explore the spiritual nature of movies through a Christian worldview. Let me say right up front that it is not my intention to “convert” anyone; that’s not my job. Yet I believe you can find many spiritual elements in all forms of artistic expression.

I also believe many creators are asking important questions through their works, seeking answers to questions that concern us all. Much of my decision to create such a blog is inspired by two books, Everyday Apocalypse by David Dark and Arts of Darkness: American Noir and the Quest for Redemption by Thomas S. Hibbs. Regardless of your religious, political or any other sort of worldview(s), I hope you find something of interest here.
