After 25 consecutive weeks of library virtual movie discussions, we're going to slow things down a bit, but not too much! We'll continue our movie discussions, but also add some special events, only some of which are featured below. (For more news, keep an eye on the Facebook page for the Anne Arundel County Public Library.)
Our next virtual movie discussion will be a Noirvember film noir double feature of two noir classics, the ultimate low budget Detour (1945) paired with D.O.A. (1950) on Friday, November 6 at 7pm ET. Watch the films at your convenience on Kanopy (or anywhere else you wish to find them), then join us for the discussion. Registration begins on October 23.
We always celebrate Veterans Day at the library with programs honoring all who have served our country. This year we will discuss William Wyler's 1946 classic The Best Years of Our Lives on Friday, November 13 at 7pm ET. Registration for this event begins on October 30. Don't miss it!
Can't get enough of books about movies? Neither can we! That's why we've invited Raquel Stecher to join us for a discussion of the best movie books of 2020 on Friday, November 20 at 7pm ET. Raquel certainly knows both movies and books, which is clearly evident when you peruse her blog Out of the Past: A Classic Film Blog. Not only does Raquel write about classic films and books, she also hosts an annual Summer Reading Challenge, in which readers of her blog (including me) can read and review classic film books. To find out more about our Best Movie Books of 2020 program featuring Raquel, please visit this page.
And there's much more on the way. Stay tuned!
